Hello?
Just joined..
I have heard about this site awhile ago,
was hesitating to look. But after my last best friend had
a kid on me, I am getting very bored
" Stop touching that!, don't do that!, b*tch,b*tch,b*tch!"
I am soo sick of hearing it!!
It seems like every one I talk to, all they say is I hope my
kids not like that!
Well my wont because I aint having them.
Isn't it against the law to endanger childrens lives anyway??
Well I hope to see someone on here soon..
Nancies.

Hi snog! I usually check the board every day or two, but since it's just been me lately, I'd be talking to myself if I posted. Since I'd prefer to not look as insane as I am, I only talk if there's someone to reply to.
I've been sort of busy lately and was just gone for the long weekend (oh the joys of being childfree and taking long weekends without worrying about kids and school or whatever!) But, I'm back now, so let the chatting begin!

Welcome to the site!
I can commiserate with your predicament. Once I got married and my friends all did too, then came the parenthood stage. Friends who become parents seem to fall into one of two stages:
1) Too busy/wrapped up in the child to get together with anyone (maybe other parents since their kid will have someone to play with)
2) Dying for human contact but not fun to hang out with since they can't hold an uninterrupted conversation due to yelling at the kid or only talking about the kid/parenthood.
If you can, you really should try to attend a monthly get-together (check the calendar for details on scheduled meetings.) We try to do different things but it's always a nice time to get together with adults that can hold a real conversation.

Well generally speaking there's a deadline for letting the coordinator know that you'll be attending since much of the time we go to restaurants and she needs to know a week in advance how many people to make reservations for.
Well, the May meeting was bowling but we only tend to do that a once a year deal since it's hard to get lanes reserved at our usual time when the bowling leagues are in session. Anyway this Saturday's meeing is at a restaurant in Westfield (probably a bit late for getting in an RSVP now though). Not sure what's on the menu for July yet. We'll probably discuss options on Saturday.
I'd say that at least 50% of our get together are at a restaurant. We eat and chat...usually for a bit over two hours. It depends on how busy the place is and if the waitstaff are trying to nudge us out the door to get our table back.
We've done a picnic at Stanley Park in Westfield (gorgeous place, that), gone miniature golfing, went on a short cruise of the Connecticut River and we even attended a Falcons hockey game back a few months ago. So eventually there's something that appeals to almost everyone's taste.
